This online version of the print journal of the same name is published
quarterly by Academic Press, Inc. through a program titled IDEAL
(International Digital Electronic Access Library). Consciousness and
Cognition provides a forum for a natural-science approach to the issues of
consciousness, voluntary control, and self. The journal features two types
of articles: empirical research (in the form of regular articles and short
reports) and theoretical articles. Book reviews, integrative theoretical
and critical literature reviews, and tutorial reviews are also published.
The journal aims to be both scientifically rigorous and open to novel
 contributions.

Some articles appearing in the September 1996 issue of the Journal
include: 'When Are Images Conscious? The Curious Disconnection between
Imagery and Consciousness in the Scientific Literature', 'Reports of
Mental Imagery in Retrieval from Long-Term Memory', and 'The Importance of
a Consideration of Qualia to Imagery and Cognition'.

Subscription to this electronic journal involves licensing agreements with
academic and industrial networks or consortia of libraries and can not be
done on a personal or even title by title basis. However, the table of
contents and article abstracts for each issue are available online
free-of-charge. Articles are provided to members of subscriber
institutions in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format.
