The Hmong Studies Journal is a unique and established peer-reviewed
Internet-based academic publication devoted to the scholarly discussion of
Hmong history, Hmong culture, Hmong people, and other facets of the Hmong
experience in the U.S., Asia and around the world.

The Hmong Studies Journal is the only peer-reviewed scholarly journal in the
world devoted to academic studies related to the Hmong diaspora and Hmong
culture and history.

The goals of the Hmong Studies Journal are to:

* To promote cross cultural awareness and understanding between Hmong and
non-Hmong;

* To further the scholarly understanding of Hmong culture, human rights, and
social justice issues in the United States and across the world;

* To promote the development and acceptance of an emerging Hmong Studies
discipline within the realm of Asian-American Studies and Southeast Asian
regional studies;

* To provide a recognized peer-reviewed academic forum for Hmong-origin
scholars and non-Hmong scholars doing quality work related to the Hmong
diaspora and Hmong culture and history;

* To encourage young Hmong scholars to perform needed research in Hmong
Studies in the Hmong diaspora and in East and Southeast Asia;

* To encourage young Hmong to enter the academic world and contribute
significantly to the Asian-American Studies and Southeast Asian regional
studies bodies of scholarship.
