Internet Archaeology is an on-line only, peer-reviewed
archaeology e-journal and has established itself as the
premier archaeology journal on the web. Internet Archaeology
is a highly varied, international publication with the
ability to incorporate video, sound, data sets, clickable
maps, virtual reality, and full colour images into every
online article. Content is not geographically or
chronologically restricted and articles in languages other
than English are also published.
Articles are chosen for suitability to the medium as well as
having a global relevance and appeal. Information is
presented in a readable manner and enables users to explore
the data upon which conclusions are based. This makes for a
journal with appeal for all levels of readers.
Internet Archaeology will publish the results of
archaeological research, including excavation
reports (text, photographs, data, drawings, reconstruction
diagrams, interpretations), analyses of large data sets
along with the data itself, visualisations, programs used to
analyse data, and applications of information technology.
Internet Archaeology is managed by a consortium of UK
Archaeological Institutions - the British
Academy, The Council for British Archaeology and the
Universities of Durham, Glasgow, Oxford, Southampton and
York. The Journal is published by the Council for British
Archaeology and is hosted by the Department of Archaeology
at the University of York. The Editor is Ms Judith Winters.
Readers need to register to see the 'papers' in full, but
this is free and without obligation.
