Impact is an electronic journal dedicated to discussion and analysis of
the interaction between Information Technology and the Media in the
production of news and information. The media now have a vast array of
technology to call upon in the production of programs. We are interested
to consider how this technology impacts on news values, subjects tackled
by the media, presentation styles, news content and the production of
meaning (in the context of the media and the audience), and general news
 quality.

The advent of the Internet, as a new technology and medium wrapped into
one, is also likely to impact on areas of interest to this journal.

By publishing informed academic research articles, discussions and
reviews, we seek to promote the scholarly study and understanding of the
myriad effects of information technology on the media and society.
