Infection and Immunity is an electronic version of the print magazine of
the same title published by the American Society for Microbiology.
Infection and Immunity is devoted the advancement and dissemination of
fundamental knowledge concerning (i) infections caused by pathogenic
bacteria, fungi, and parasites; (ii) mechanisms of pathogenicity and
virulence factors such as toxins and microbial surface structures; (iii)
factors involved in host resistance inflammation and susceptibility to
infection; (iv) immunology of microbial infection; and (v) development and
evaluation of vaccines against pathogens. Monthly.
The American Society for Microbiology is the oldest and largest single
life science membership organization in the world. Membership has grown
from 59 scientists in 1899 to over 40,000 members today located throughout
the world. ASM represents 24 disciplines of microbiological specialization
plus a division for microbiology educators.
ASM members have many common goals, including the desire for professional
improvement through ASM journals, books, meetings, and other Society
activities. ASM members help to promote a better understanding of the
importance of microbiology today and in the future. Thousands of
professionals and researchers in the life sciences and related disciplines
have joined ASM because of the impact it has on their lives . We invite
you to be a part of it.
