The IHF is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that seeks to
promote compliance of the states participating in the OSCE with the human
rights provisions to which they committed themselves in the Helsinki Final
Act and its Follow-up Documents, as well as with relevant international
law.
Based in Vienna, the IHF represents 39 Helsinki Committees and cooperating
human rights groups in Europe and North America. In addition to supporting
and providing liaison among its member committees and associated human
rights groups, the IHF gathers information and documents on the human
rights situation throughout the territory of the OSCE.
