IJPG aims to be the leading English-language research journal in the
field. It intends to: Inform population geographers of the best research
in the sub-discipline through its primary research articles. It will also
carry articles of interest to population planners and practitioners and
the wider community of social scientists interested in population
research. Promote and further enhance the international standing of
population geography through the exchange of views on what constitutes
best practice in population research. Facilitate debate on issues of
policy relevance and encourage the widest possible discussion and
dissemination of the applications of research in population geography.
Review and evaluate the significance for population geography of recent
research findings in the wider field of population studies and the broader
social sciences in general, and provide an international platform where
researchers can discuss the future course of the sub-discipline. Provide a
forum for population geographers to assess and apply philosophical and
methodological developments in the social and behavioural sciences.

The scope of the journal is international, covering developed and less
developed countries and embracing all the main fields of interest in
population geography, including:

* migration studies * the geography of fertility and mortality *
population and household structure * population modelling * demographic
analysis of labour and housing markets * population projects and
forecasting * population and development * population and the environment
* population policies * social and cultural aspects of population
geography * census analysis * spatial aspects of historical demography *
analysis of population sub-groups such as the elderly, refugees, ethnic
minorities, etc. * methods and techniques in population geography * theory
and philosophy of population geography

The main content of each journal issue is research articles, but the
journal also contains book reviews, and special articles commissioned by
the editors which will report current debates or review important themes.
