Quantum chemistry deals with the study of the innermost structure of
atoms, molecules, and condensed matter on the electronic level and with
the nuclear framework approximated by a set of moving point charges or
particles, and it usually describes this structure in terms of patterns of
standing and traveling waves. It also deals with collisions between atoms
and molecules, with the study of chemical reactivity, with the interaction
between matter and electromagnetic fields, and with the influence of
relativistic effects. It uses physical and chemical experience, deep-going
mathematical analysis, sophisticated numerical analysis, and high-speed
electronic computers to achieve its results. Quantum chemistry has
rendered a new conceptual framework for physics and chemistry, and it has
led to a unification of the natural sciences which was previously
inconceivable. The developments in molecular biology during the last
decades also show that this field is approaching the same basis by
describing many of the fundamental life processes in terms of elementary
particles, and the field of quantum biology is now well established.

Even if many research groups in quantum chemistry all over the world are
concentrating on the development of formal methods, and other groups are
more interested in the computational aspects of the field, it is
exceedingly important that all theoreticians keep in close contact with
each other and with the experimentalists. Hence an important aspect of the
journal is to emphasize the interactions in the triangle: Format Theory;
Experiments; Computations. The journal accepts papers dealing with both
formal theory and/or computations, papers dealing with these interactions
are particularly welcome.
