Innovations in End-of-Life Care
Innovations in End-of-Life Care

Innovations is an international peer-reviewed journal for leaders in
end-of-life care published online from 1999-2003. Bimonthly, thematic
issues aimed to promote more humane, comprehensive and coordinated care
to persons with life-threatening illness and their families, such that
patients experience enhanced comfort, higher physical functioning and a
greater sense of well-being at the end of life. Sponsored by Last Acts
(http://www.lastacts.org (Link inactive 30 September 2004);, an initiative
of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, through a grant to the Center for
Applied Ethics and Professional Practice at Education Development Center, Inc.,
Innovations had its editorial offices in Newton, Massachusetts.
Mildred Z. Solomon, EdD, served as editor-in-chief of Innovations.
The archived online journal is still free and accessible to all; our
target audience is clinicians and health care professionals, though many
articles will also be of interest to policy makers and the public.
Whereas many journals focus on results of research studies with little
attention to the mechanisms responsible for those outcomes,
Innovations has sought to provide clinicians and researchers the
opportunity to detail the process of designing, implementing,
evaluating, and sustaining new practices to improve palliative care.
Previously published bimonthly, as of October 2003, the journal will no
longer post new issues. All 28 past thematic issues, from January 1999
through September 2003, are now archived at this site and are available
to read, download, and print for free.
