The International Review of Education, first published in its present form
in 1955, is the longest-running international journal for the comparative
theory and practice of formal and non-formal education.

The Review serves the needs of departments and institutes of education,
teacher-training institutions, educational policy-makers and planners, and
other professionals throughout the world by providing scholarly information
on major educational innovations, research projects and trends in countries
at all stages of development.

The journal is currently in an exciting phase of its own growth. While
maintaining its broad scope and academic rigour, it now addresses matters of
education and learning throughout the whole of life.

Edited by the UNESCO Institute for Education, Hamburg, with the advice of an
international Editorial Board and additional academic evaluators, each
volume usually includes general issues containing essays and notes on a wide
variety of educational topics, together with book reviews, and special
issues, guest-edited by distinguished educationists, with contents devoted
to themes of particularly contemporary relevance.

Contributions are published in English, French or German, preceded by
abstracts in all three languages as well as Spanish and Russian.
