IEEE Distributed Systems Online aims to promote professional awareness 
of developments, trends, activities, and editorial coverage in the 
distributed systems field and provide online support for Internet 
Computing and Pervasive Computing. IEEE DS Online hopes to serve as a 
springboard for building a stronger distributed systems community and 
offer researchers, students, educators, application developers, and 
program managers a forum for sharing ideas and discussing projects.

IEEE DS Online provides monthly features as well as constantly updated 
material. To be notified when DS Online is updated, join our mailing 
list. Features include peer-reviewed articles, editorial columns, 
interviews, debates, opinion pieces, and news. The site also serves the 
distributed systems community by listing relevant books, calls for 
papers, and an events database that is searchable by month or type of 
event, such as conferences.

By having leaders in the field (Topic Area editors) cover essential 
distributed-computing topics--giving IEEE DS Online readers the benefit 
of their specialized, expert judgment--IEEE DS Online helps filter the 
information deluge burdening today's professional.

Our volunteer Topic Area editors are responsible for Web pages in their 
topic area. Topic area pages include

     * Pointers to conference- and workshop-related material: calls for 
papers with deadlines, URLs, programs, conference keynote addresses, and 
so forth.
     * Highlights from related journals and other publications: 
including important new articles and standards.
     * Project updates: pointers to university and corporate projects, 
especially new projects.

Topic Area editors also oversee peer review of articles--spanning case 
studies, tutorials, practical applications, and management issues.
