IWGIA's overall mission is to endorse and promote indigenous peoples' right
to self-determination, their cultural integrity and their right to
development on their own conditions. In order to fulfill this mission, IWGIA
works within a wide range of areas: documentation and publication, human
rights, lobbying and advocacy, research and projects.
IWGIA publishes a quarterly journal Indigenous Affairs and a yearbook The
Indigenous World both in English and in Spanish (Asuntos Indigenas and El
Mundo Indigena). Besides that IWGIA publishes books, handbooks and reports,
where the books has the main priority.
Indigenous Affairs topics include the effects of social suffering,
migration, climate change and other issues on indigenous peoples.
