Íslenska Thjodfélagid is intended to support research and scholarly debate on Icelandic society as a specific sociological issue. 

The journal is a forum for diverse studies of Icelandic society and encourages input from all sociological specializations and other disciplines of the social sciences that challenge an Icelandic social reality such as political science, anthropology, ethnography, criminology and gender studies.
