This online version of the print journal of the same name is published
bimonthly by Academic Press, Inc. through a program titled IDEAL
(International Digital Electronic Access Library). The Journal of
Algorithms presents papers on algorithms that are inherently discrete and
finite and that have some natural mathematical content, either in their
objective or in their analysis. The journal features new algorithms and
data structures, new analyses or comparisons of known algorithms,
complexity studies, and sharply focused review articles of subject areas
that are currently active. An excellent resource for mathematicians and
computer scientists, the Journal of Algorithms includes a special section
devoted to problems and another devoted to summaries of research on
 NP-completeness.

Some articles appearing in the November 1996 issue of the Journal include:
'Large Deviations for Quicksort', 'Off-Line Maintenance of Planar
Configurations', and 'Ray Shooting Amidst Convex Polygons in 2D'.

Subscription to this electronic journal involves licensing agreements with
academic and industrial networks or consortia of libraries and can not be
done on a personal or even title by title basis. However, the table of
contents and article abstracts for each issue are available online
free-of-charge. Articles are provided to members of subscriber
institutions in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format.
