Electronic Research Archive for Mathematics

The Jahrbuch-project has the aim to built up a database of the "Jahrbuch
uber die Fortschritte der Mathematik" (JFM)  and an electronic archive of
the most important mathematical publications of the period 1868 -1943. 

The JFM-database and the fulltext archive will be presented in the WWW.
The project will provide free access to the database JFM and the fulltext
archive for every men or women from all over the world. In more detail:
the Jahrbuch-project will enclose
                                                 
building-up  a database of the JFM  in different steps 
                              
digitalization of the printed issues of the JFM and enrichment of the
original data by mathematicians and librarians, e.g.: 
                                                  
	a classification by the MSC 
	a description by keywords 
	a valuation of the importance of the publications by the 
	  present view as the base of the selection of the
          publication for the fulltext archive a supplement of the
	  bibliographic data of the publications
          (e.g. different forms of the names of the authors or
          various types of the titles of the journals) 
	building-up a fulltext archive scanning of the relevant publications (up to
	  20 % of all publications) 
	linking of the scanned documents with the JFM-database 
	  presentation and long-time-storaging in a document-management
	  system
                    
The JFM-database will provide as an entry point for the user: This means
the user ask the the JFM-database e.g. for the author or the title of a
certain publication. The user will see a link to the fulltext document in
the answer if the document belongs to the group of important documents.
