Publication of the Japan Agricultural Research Quarterly (JARQ) was 
initiated in 1996 by the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries research 
Council of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, through Editorial 
services of the Tropical Agriculture research Office, also established 
in 1996. JARQ provided readers outside of Japan with the latest 
information on key achievements and developments in agricultural 
research in Japan, with the expectation that this information would 
contribute to agricultural development in countries in tropical and 
subtropical regions.

Archives date back to 1998.
