In its Jahrbuch the Max Planck Society renders account on the scientific 
research performed at its institutes. The Jahrbuch includes scientific 
research reports from all the Max Planck facilities, the scientific 
presentations held at the General Meeting, as well a CD-ROM containing a 
bibliographic database of all the scientific publications of the Max 
Planck Society since 1998.

Numerous publications in reputed scientific magazines verify the quality 
of the research performed at the institutes of the Max Planck Society. 
Among these are numerous publications in the magazines Nature and 
Science. Articles from scientists and researchers at the Max Planck 
Society make up one-third of all the articles appearing in these 
magazines stemming from Germany.

Every year Max Planck Institutes publish around 11,500 scientific 
publications. In 2001 junior scientists and researchers completed 46 
Habilitation theses (postdoctoral qualification), 583 Ph.D. 
dissertations, and 246 Diplom, Master and state examinations. These 
figures are solid proof of the contribution the Max Planck Society makes 
to advancing junior scientists and researchers.
