       Nursing Standard is published every week and is available from your
local newsagent or on subscription. The journal publishes original
research and clinical articles relevent to the practice of nursing. It
also publishes a comprehensive news section and a range of opinion pieces
on topical issues. The feature section regularly spotlights good practice
and practice developments in nursing.  Nursing Standard offers nurses the
chance to study at home through its unique continuing education programme
run in association with the Royal College of Nursing Institute.Each week
the journal carries a continuing education article with assessement and
answer sheet. Every month Nursing Standard publishes the written component
to RCN Nursing Update, the multimedia continuing education programme
broadcast on BBC 2. Nursing Standard publishes regular specials on tissue
viability, AIDS/HIV issues, cardiology and the student journal, No Limits. 

       Nursing Standard also organises annual nursing awards to recognise
and reward excellence in nursing practice. The Nurse 96 Awards are
currently open for applications. The award winners will be presented with
their certificates and cheques at a prestigious ceremony in London in
September. Nursing Standard also organises the biannual Clinical Practice
and Management Awards in association with the RCN and Smith & Nephew
Healthcare.  The 12 award winners will attend a week long tailor-made
management course at Sundridge Park Management College. The awards
ceremony will be in June 1996.
