This publication provides the most recent information available on key 
labour force indicators in 20 OECD Member countries. It covers 
countries that compile labour force statistics on a monthly and 
quarterly basis. Notes are provided for each country at the end of Part 
One of each issue. 

For 17 of the 20 countries, data are derived from monthly or quarterly 
household labour force surveys. Statistics for the remaining three 
countries (France, Germany and Switzerland) are derived from the annual 
labour force surveys. International comparisons must therefore be 
approached with caution, particularly as regards unemployment and 
unemployment rates. 

The unemployment rates shown in the country tables are calculated with 
respect to the total labour force. Some users prefer to calculate such 
rates with reference to the civilian labour force or total employees. 
Both series are presented in the country tables.
