Samara AltLinguo (Samara Alternative Linguistics) is an independent project
created on the 15th May 2006 by Andrey G. Kirillov, Associate Professor of
English, Department of Foreign Languages, Samara State Teacher Training
University. This is a private non-commercial initiative.
 
Samara AltLinguo is intended as a home for the local linguistic community,
including students, teachers and researchers in various fields of
linguistics. We hope it is useful to a wider linguistic community of Russia
and other countries as well. Its aim is to provide information, publication
options and dissertation theses library.

The primary aim of the e-journal is to provide a forum for discussions of
theoretical and practical research in a number of areas connected with the
study of General Linguistics and the English language, including (but not
limited to) the following:

*  discourse analysis;
*  types of discourse;
*  narrative studies;
*  social, occupational, geographical varieties of English;
*  sociolinguistics;
*  semantics;
*  language and communication;
*  language and the mass media;
*  language and politics.
