The journal is understood as a general sociological research journal publishing contributions from diverse sociological fields, including all varieties of sociological topics.

The journal's declared aim to enhance the discussion and further solution of central research methods problems in the light of contemporary theoretical and societal developments. Research and analyses on transformation and culture will also form a vital part of the journal's future.

It focuses on theoretical, empirical and methodological discussions which engage with current political, cultural and intellectual topics and debates.

It also includes reviews of recent publications on social research methodology, contributions and interviews of prestigious academics and researchers and papers and documents collected in national and international publications. 

Issues often follow a theme.
