Velox: Critical Approaches to Contemporary Film

http://www.veloxonline.org/index.php?journal=velox

Publisher: Velox Press

Velox delivers critical approaches to contemporary films. As an independent,
peer reviewed, scholarly journal, it pushes beyond the limitations of
technical analysis or popular response and provides theoretically informed
considerations of the most current films in all genres.

Velox is committed to facilitating the rapid distribution of substantive
academic analysis and fostering critical discourse from a variety of fields
and perspectives.

Velox is comprised of two major sections: "Now Playing" and "Take 2."

Articles in the ³Now Playing² section should critically approach a film that
is either currently in theaters or has been recently released on DVD.
Submissions may be as short as 800-1400 words (approx. 3-4 pages); however,
longer article-length submissions (up to 25 pages) are also acceptable for
this section of the journal.

Articles in the ³Take 2² section encompass films that have completed the
standard release cycle and have been overlooked or need to be reevaluated.
Authors may submit short articles (approx. 3-4 pages); however, longer
article-length submissions (up to 25 pages) are also acceptable.

As the aims of Velox are to provide an academic alternative to the many film
reviews that currently exist, articles should adhere to highest standards of
scholarship and critical analysis. Fan-based criticism or reviews are not
within the scope of this journal.

Articles should be written in clear U.S. English in the active voice.
