picutures!
This 'zine will bring you some of the joys of life; like the "beer of the
month," and some of the not so pleasant social issues of the day. While we
do our best to present an aesthetically pleasing and content rich 'zine we
don't strive for perfection. Because real life is not Melrose Place,
90210, or the Sunset strip Billboard. Real life is typos, bad hair days,
misplaced commas, "love handles," cellulite, and missing socks. Now I'm
not against portraying the persona of perfection, but I nor X-POSURE am
afraid to make or show our mistakes--- because that IS real.
X-POSURE was picked as the e-zine's name because it has various meanings
that all, in one way or another, relate to the objective of the page.
First, we want to expose the various sides and diversity of life. Also,
there are some journalist who are interested in doing some writing for the
zine'. So hopefully that will also expose some previously unreported news.
Now exposure, as in "to expose" also means, "to leave uncovered, bare,
without protection..." So in that sense we want X-POSURE to be more real
and down to earth. Magazines these days are hung up on perfection. Flaws
are airbrushed away, the models have to be perfect, etc..so THEY are
"covered up." We'd rather be a little more "uncovered and bare" and not be
afraid of a little imperfection, because that's just real life. People
should know that making mistakes or not looking like Ms. America is OK.
Now from another angle, in photography exposure can be used as a method of
artistic control and affect how the image is seen. So I like how that can
apply to our zine' as well. We are the artistic controllers of image.
Wasn't it Andre Aggasi who said "Image is everything"? Well I don't really
believe that (Agassi's quote), but hey it sounds good doesn't it?
