Zoological Research, established in 1980 and published bimonthly by  
the Kunming Institute of Zoology (Chinese Academy of Sciences), is  
concerned with peer-reviewed original articles, review articles,  
research reports, and notes covering all aspects of basic and applied  
research in every branch of zoology, especially in evolution,  
systematics, ecology, and ethology. Articles should be written in  
either Chinese or English, and all should be provided with English  
abstracts.

Zoological Research, an international zoology journal, was awarded  
the third prize of Excellent Chinese Journals in the year 2000. It is  
recognized as one of Chinese core periodicals in zoology in Guide to  
the Core Journals of China and is included among the 300 most  
frequently cited Chinese scientific journals in Chinese Science  
Citation Database.

Zoological Research also ranked 16 among 51 biological journals, and  
218 among 1576 science periodicals in Chinese S&T Journal Citation  
Reports 2003. Its impact factor is 0.6198 according to the 2004  
Chinese Academic Journal Comprehensive Citation Annual Report.  
Subscribers are listed not only in 30 provinces and districts in  
China, but also in 11 other countries. Moreover, it has been,  
exchanged world-wide with other corresponding publications from 75  
institutions in 23 countries and districts.
